Tellusant’s Development Step-up Process

Product development at Tellusant is never ending. Given our long experience, most of our ideas can be developed into functional, robust products. We have more ideas than capacity for development. We therefore us the Tellusant Development Step-Up Process as a funnel.

Our development process follows the step-up process in the graph below.

1. We take an idea and convert it into a prototype. For this we use simple tools like Excel. This prototype can be shown to potential customers to get initial reactions, but it is far from a polished implementation.
2. After this, we develop a demo that is functional, but would not be robust enough for real life use. It would not have good data ingestion capability and the UI is limited. All algorithms are included though. This is mainly done in Python.
3. The demo is finally coded as a functional cloud-based platform or product. PACE (Pricing Against Consumer Economics) is an example of this. Our in-house team in Mexico plays a key role in this.

We have decision points before each steps where we do a strategic, financial, and technical assessment.

The Tellusant development process is similar to most other companies’. It works well for us without being VRIO. It is VO (valuable and organized), but not rare and inimitable (RO). Therefore, it gives us no competitive advantage, only the right to compete.
