What is the origin of our company name? Here we explain the Tellusant etymology. It derives from Tellus and Quantitative.
Tellus means Earth in Latin. We chose it because of the often global scope of our work for multinational companies.
Quant because when we codify strategies on the platform, quantitative information / knowledge is central to the planning process. Quantification through statistical methods and machine learning is the heart of our company. Translating the numbers into meaningful messages for the CEO and the C-suite is our soul.
As secondary -ant attributes we thought of Relevant and Elegant.
Relevant because we build solutions that are relevant to management users, rather than us having a “product out” mindset.
Elegant because the user interface has to be simple and appealing.
Not intended was the direct link to proto-indo-european *telh₂– which means “to endure”–which is central to any startup.
Nor was the connection to Telluride, Colorado intended. But we might as well hold our first customer conference there.
This is the Tellusant etymology. The name has served us well during our first five years because it is memorable.
Tellusant is renowned among the world’s largest consumer goods companies for its expertise in the strategic and commercial areas. We have an installed base with subscribers and clients in more than 100 countries.
Our leadership, with a background in global strategy consulting, boasts strong academic credentials. Tellusant’s leaders have worked on the ground in over 80 countries and have more than 300 academic citations to their credit. This expertise grounds all our work and products in detailed knowledge of market economics worldwide.
Furthermore, we offer the world’s only globally harmonized consumer economics database called TelluBase. This tool covers disposable income by income and age brackets, socioeconomic class sizes, consumer classes size, and much more across 218 countries with more than 27,000 geographic entities from 2000 to 2050.
In addition, we excel in combining statistical analysis with predictive artificial intelligence, creating the most robust prediction tools available. One specialty is our strategic forecasting solution PoluSim, which has a 3- to 10-year horizon for strategic planning, unlike operational forecasts with up to a 1-year horizon.
These capabilities make us unique in developing robust predictive strategic planning solutions, tailored for global corporations. At Tellusant, we deliver predictions, not templates.
